The Old Control Tower (Heathrow Airport)
Contractor: Mace Limited
Client: BAA
Value: £400,000
A long-term rebuilding and facilities enhancement programme
is well underway by BAA at Heathrow Airport. The next new
passenger terminal, Heathrow East, is due to be built on
the site currently occupied by Terminal 2 and the separate
Queens Building. However, in preparation for demolition a
new home was required for offices in the Queens Building.
So our fit out team at Heathrow was called in to convert
and upgrade much of the substantial, disused office space
available in the airport’s 7-storey Old Control Tower,
itself superceded two years ago with the opening of
Heathrow’s new control tower. Following our comprehensive
fit out programme, the Old Control Tower has been brought
back into use as office space and the offices in the Queens
Building can now be transferred over.
